Are you an artist? Do you enjoy taking pictures on your phone? Do you reflect on our Jesuit values with creativity? Would you like your art displayed in the Damen Student Center?

Community Service and Action (CSA) invites Loyola students to reflect on Jesuit values through art in recognition of November's Jesuit Heritage Month! We invite students to reflect on the prompts provided by CSA and submit photography, digital art, or photos of visual art that express their thoughts and reflections. Pieces will uplift community, justice and peace. Prizes will be awarded to a select few contest winners.

The Jesuit Heritage Month Art Contest celebrates student artistic endeavors as it draws upon the set forth by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits):

Caring for our Common Home
Journeying with Youth
Walking with the Excluded
Showing the Way to God

CONTEST PROCESS

Currently enrolled Loyola students may submit
Submissions accepted October 1 – November 1
Students will submit photography, digital art, or photos of visual art in response to one of the Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAPs) listed above
Each submission should be for only one piece of art. Multiple entries are allowed.
The student submitting the entry must be the person who completed the piece of art.
The piece can be an existing piece of artwork in your portfolio but must relate to a UAP.
The artist must agree to CSA sharing the image on social media, printing/displaying the piece, and using it in future Jesuit Heritage Month promotions if selected.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place (selected by a review committee) and for People’s Choice (determined through Instagram engagement).
The submission form requests additional information about the student and the piece:
- Name of submitted piece
- Medium of submitted piece
- Date (Month/Year) that the piece was completed
- Students will submit a brief statement (around 250 words) responding to the question: What inspired you to create this artwork, and how does it relate to the UAP you selected?
