Publications Templates

Building a publication site

To build your own site using the Publications Templates site, start by reviewing the list of available content types below. Align these content types to content per story or modal. Follow the step-by-step guide provided and review the additional guidance. Once all sections are completed and visually aligned to the publication and once the site has been reviewed, edited, and approved, it's ready to publish.

Pre-built pages

  • Landing Page - TOC - Can be used as a startup landing page
  • Story - Can be used as a start up page to build stories or modals

Pre-built panels

These pre-built panels are mostly self-descriptive by the titles. The titles correlate with the labeling rubric applied to landing page wireframes. Builders can also review each using the titles.

Steps of the process

  • Step 1: Work with UMC Digital to create a landing page wireframe
  • Step 2: Review, provide feedback, and finalize proposed wireframe
  • Step 3: UMC builds approved landing page
  • Step 4: Create site folders
  • Step 5: Build stories or modals that correlate with the landing page
  • Step 6: Do a final review of every section of your site on desktop and if possible mobile
  • Step 7: Submit the site to UMC Digital and shareholders for final review
  • Step 8: All edits are completed and approved. The site can be published

Duplicating additional content to a section

When duplicating content to a section, open the folder select all items except the content type named "Page Layout - Full Width" (this is the Section Template content type) if present, and any divider you determine not to duplicate.

Using the Panel Divider

Sometimes adjustments will need to be made. Usually it will be applied to spacing.

The mortar between the bricks: The Panel Divider content type is used to build space adjacent to content panels such as Media Cards. Generally a Panel Divider is placed before and after the content of a panel. In the instance of media cards, before the first media card and after the last media card. Only one divider is needed when adjacent panels share the same background color.

Alternating backgrounds: When directed, or when necessary, adjacent panels require separation by using a different different background for the panel.
